Inductive Proximity Sensors

Inductive Proximity Sensors

Introduction

Inductive proximity sensors are the most widely used sensor technologies in the modern process control environment. The coil at the sensing face of the sensor is excited by a Sine-wave oscillator which produces an Electromagnetic field in the sensing face. When a metal object moves into the sensing range, due to Eddy Current effect, the oscillations are being dampened in the sensing circuitry. This change in status is detected by the detector circuit and is further processed by the Output logic/driver section.

These sensors have been manufactured by Mikrosen since 1993 with fully indigenously developed technology. Since then, various types (Standard, Extended sensing ranges & Quasi-flush) have been introduced to meet specific customer requirements and R&D efforts are being continued to provide more solutions.
